“Since May is better Hearing and Speech month, we decided to do a community outreach to our fellow Staten Islanders. Thanks to Wishes of Literacy, we were given an opportunity to present on something we are so passionate about – Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) and its management. The lecture was held at the Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities, where we had the pleasure of meeting and educating many parents and professionals interested in the topic.
Our next community outreach was arranged to be held in St. Charles Church on Staten Island by Monsignor Bergin. We’ve discussed Hearing Loss, the consequences of diminished hearing, we’ve touched upon the causes and signs of hearing loss as well as prevention and treatment.
As doctors of Audiology our main goal is to help raise the awareness of Hearing loss as well as motivate the audience to take action. We are looking forward to our next exciting community outreach which will happen in June. Stay tuned!
