When Geoff Plant asked me to give this keynote presentation, he said to be sure that I included some of my personal experiences as a hard of hearing person. Actually, I wasn’t sure if I could or should do this, since I don’t feel all that comfortable talking about myself.
If you have a hearing loss and are facing a hospital admission in the near future, it may not occur to you that your condition might have an impact on the time that you spend on the ward. This is especially true if your hearing loss has only recently been diagnosed.
It can be difficult to acknowledge the need for help addressing hearing issues. Before you go to your doctor to speak about hearing loss, it’s a good idea to be prepared.
