Most people who reach this page have already settled on Signia and just want to know which one to actually buy. Below are the five Signia hearing aids we stock, what separates them, and who each one suits. If you’d rather talk it through than read, call us and we’ll go through it in ten minutes.
Signia hearing aid models we stock
All five run on the same platform, Signia Integrated Xperience, and all five are rechargeable. What changes between them is the shape, how noticeable they are, and how easy they are to handle. Every model is sold left, right or as a pair, so if only one ear needs help, you only buy one.
| Model | Style | Suits you if | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Signia Pure Charge&Go IX | Behind the ear, thin wire into the canal | Restaurants and group conversation are the problem | Our most popular Signia model. 8 colors |
| Signia Pure Charge&Go BCT IX | Behind the ear, thin wire into the canal | You’re on the phone every day | Bluetooth Classic, hands-free calls, works with older phones. 10 colors |
| Signia Silk Charge&Go IX | Sits down inside the ear canal | Being seen wearing one is what’s stopped you | Soft sleeve instead of a custom mold, so no ear impression and often a same-visit fitting. Black or mocha only |
| Signia Styletto IX | Slim behind the ear | You travel, or you hate the standard look | Pocket charging case holds around 4 days of power. 7 color combinations |
| Signia Active IX | Earbud shape | You’d rather it read as consumer tech | Comes as Active IX or Active Pro IX. 6 colors |
How to choose a Signia hearing aid
Start with the room you struggle in, not the feature list. If you follow one-on-one conversation fine but lose the thread at a table of six, what you need is the group processing, and that points to Pure Charge&Go IX or the BCT version. If your loss is mild and the real barrier is embarrassment, Silk solves that with very little compromise.
- Loud restaurants, four or more people talking: Pure Charge&Go IX or Pure Charge&Go BCT IX
- You don’t want anyone to notice: Silk Charge&Go IX, or read our guide to hearing aids for small ear canals first
- Stiff fingers, weak grip or poor near vision: skip the in-canal model, go with Pure or Styletto
- On the phone all day: Pure Charge&Go BCT IX
- Travel, hotels, no outlet by the bed: Styletto IX
Handling matters more than most people expect. In-canal models are fiddlier to insert, easier to lose, and harder to clean. Be honest with yourself about that before you order, because it’s the thing that decides whether they get worn.
One real limit: no Signia hearing aid on this page suits every degree of loss. A severe loss, or one that’s changed since your last test, needs an evaluation before you buy anything. Ordering the wrong power level is the most expensive mistake in this category.
Signia hearing aid models and prices
Four of the five models come in three technology levels: 3 IX, 5 IX and 7 IX. Active is the exception, sold as Active IX or Active Pro IX. The level doesn’t change how loud the aid can go. It changes how much work it does in noise, meaning how many talkers it can hold onto at once and how firmly it separates speech from everything else.
| Level | Right for you if | Available on |
|---|---|---|
| 3 IX | Quiet restaurants, small rooms, one or two people talking | Pure, BCT, Silk, Styletto |
| 5 IX | A mixed week, a few busy places | Pure, BCT, Silk, Styletto |
| 7 IX | Large groups, busy offices, loud family events most weeks | Pure, BCT, Silk, Styletto |
| Active / Active Pro | You want the earbud shape | Active IX only |
The same model at 3 IX and 7 IX looks identical and behaves very differently at a crowded table, which is where most of the price difference sits. Prices for each Signia hearing aid model and level are on the product pages above. We check your insurance benefit before you commit and do the paperwork for you. Audiology Island participates with most insurance plans and union plans.
What Signia does differently
Most hearing aids sharpen whatever sits in front of you and push everything else down. Fine across a café table. It falls apart when three people talk at once and one of them is sitting beside you. The IX platform holds several talkers at the same time and follows them as they turn away, lean back or cut in. That half-second where the person on your left drops out of the conversation is the exact thing it was built to fix.
The other one is Own Voice Processing. The aid learns the sound of your own voice and handles it separately, so it stops booming or sounding hollow. Nearly every new wearer notices that effect in the first week with any brand, and it’s the single most common reason hearing aids end up in a drawer. It’s also why Signia is often the right call for someone who tried aids years ago and gave up on them.
All five models have tinnitus features we can switch on during programming. Bluetooth streaming for calls, music and TV is standard, and completely optional. Every model works fully without a smartphone.
Where to buy Signia hearing aids on Staten Island
You can order Signia hearing aids from an online discounter and have them shipped. The hardware will be identical to ours. What turns up in the box is a device nobody has measured inside your ear.
Buying from Audiology Island includes:
- A full hearing test and ear examination by a doctor of audiology
- Programming to your own test results, not a factory preset
- Real-ear measurement to check what the device is actually doing inside your ear canal. Dr. Zhanneta Shapiro holds advanced training in this method
- Follow-up visits that adjust the settings based on the rooms you really sit in
- Cleaning, rechecks and reprogramming as your listening changes
- Aural rehabilitation classes and discounted batteries
- Remote programming for Signia devices, so some changes need no trip in
If you’re not certain yet whether you have a hearing problem, book the free hearing screening first and start there. Four offices, three on Staten Island and one in Holmdel, NJ.
Trial period, warranty and repairs
New York State law gives you a 45-day trial on any hearing aid bought here. Inside that window you can return them outright, or move to a different style or technology level without starting over.
- 45-day trial with money-back guarantee
- 3-year repair warranty on hearing aids
- 3 years loss and damage coverage on hearing aids
- 1-year repair warranty on chargers and accessories
- Servicing up to 5 years after the warranty ends, as a paid repair
Signia domes, wax guards and chargers
Whatever you buy, you’ll be back for these. Wax filters block sooner than people expect and a blocked filter is the usual reason an aid suddenly sounds dead. Domes tear or harden and need swapping every few months.
We stock Signia wax guards including NanoCare 3.0 and QuickGuard, and Signia domes in click, tulip, open, vented and power fittings. If you’re unsure which size or type your model takes, email us the model name and we’ll confirm it before you order.
Comparing Signia with the other brands we fit
Signia isn’t automatically right for you. If you’re unusually sensitive to how music and voices sound, Widex hearing aids tend to suit better. If your difficulty is mild and occasional, OTC hearing aids are a lower-commitment place to start, though they aren’t programmed to your hearing test and won’t do much in a group.
Signia hearing aid FAQ
Will people be able to see them?
Silk Charge&Go IX sits inside the ear canal and is hard to spot unless somebody is looking for it. Styletto IX and Pure Charge&Go IX sit behind the ear on a thin wire, hidden by most hairstyles and by glasses arms. Bring a family member to the fitting and ask them straight.
My friend hated his hearing aids. Why would mine be different?
Ask whether he went back after the first two weeks. Most abandoned hearing aids were programmed once and never adjusted again. Your brain needs several weeks to re-learn sounds it stopped hearing, and the settings usually need changing twice inside that period.
Do I need a smartphone to use Signia hearing aids?
No. All five models work fully without one. The Signia app adds volume control and lets us make some adjustments remotely, but everything can be set in the office instead. Tell us at the fitting if you’d rather not use a phone.
What’s the difference between 3 IX, 5 IX and 7 IX?
Not volume. All three go equally loud. The higher levels do more work separating speech from background noise and track more talkers at once, so the difference shows up in busy rooms and barely shows up in a quiet one. Pick the level around the rooms you actually sit in.
Will Signia hearing aids help my tinnitus?
Often, yes. Restoring the sound you’ve been missing makes tinnitus less noticeable for many people, and every model here has tinnitus features we can enable. We assess the tinnitus itself first rather than assuming amplification alone will fix it.
How long until they feel normal?
Three to four weeks of wearing them most of the day. Paper rustling and dishes clattering will sound loud at first because you haven’t heard them properly in a while. That settles. Our guide to adjusting to new hearing aids covers what to expect week by week.
